Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to bake a zebra in the oven? Prepare the products. They should preferably be of the same temperature, preferably room temperature.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Melt butter or margarine on the stove in a thick-bottomed dish or in the microwave. To make the process go faster, cut the butter into cubes.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

In a deep bowl, whisk the eggs with a whisk, gradually adding sugar and stirring. We don't need a fluffy mass, just a lightly beaten egg mixture.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Pour kefir into the eggs (you can replace it with sour cream), mix until smooth. Now carefully pour in the melted butter in a thin stream, stirring constantly.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Mix flour with baking soda. You can also sift the flour through a fine sieve to saturate it with oxygen and give it airiness. Add a spoonful of wheat flour to the egg-oil mixture with a slide, stirring each time. As a result, you should get a homogeneous glossy, not thick and not liquid dough.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Divide the resulting dough into 2 equal parts. In one part, add cocoa and 1 tablespoon of boiled water (or milk) and mix so that there are no lumps. Leave the second part as it is.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Grease the baking dish with butter. You can cover it with oiled parchment, cutting it out according to the diameter of the shape, taking into account the sides. Spread 1-2 tablespoons of each dough alternately in the middle of the mold. Alternate light and dark dough. First I put the light one.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Now the dark dough goes to the light one. It is better to put the spoon perpendicular to the shape, that is, vertically to the center - so the stripes of the future zebra will turn out more even.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Put the light dough on the dark one again. And so on to the end.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Now use the end of a spoon, a toothpick or the end of a knife to make a drawing of a spider web, drawing lines along the surface of the dough, from the edge to the middle or vice versa. First divide into 4 parts, then between them. Repeat 2 times. This step, however, can be skipped.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Put the zebra cake to bake in a preheated 180 degree oven for 30-40 minutes, depending on your oven. Be guided by how many simple pies you bake, for example, charlotte. Check the readiness of the biscuit with a toothpick or the end of a knife. Also, the edges of the finished cake will lag behind the shape.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

Leave the finished cake to cool. And in an hour or two, call everyone to tea. Bon appetit!

Keep in mind that everyone's ovens are different. The temperature and cooking time may differ from those specified in the recipe. To make any baked dish successful, use useful information about the features of ovens !

Be prepared for the fact that you may need more or less flour than indicated in the recipe. Focus not on the amount of flour, but on the desired consistency of the dough. To avoid mistakes, read about flour and its properties!
