I took this recipe from a purely American website dedicated to cooking. I learned to do it from the video located there. This is a classic version of American pie, the way the Americans themselves make it.

I will immediately make a reservation that from our pie american pie differs not only in its unusual filling (if you noticed, there is butter, sour cream, and egg), but also in its appearance. American pie is necessarily covered over the filling with a mesh of flat dough plates. It has bumpers, and the filling is sort of embedded in the pie itself. We can say that this is such a cheesecake, but only in the form of a pie))

To prepare the dough, you can use the dough nozzles at the mixer. To do this, at low speed, mix flour with salt and cooled butter, cut into pieces. The dough should not become homogeneous (it will not work). When the crumb appears, carefully pour in small portions of cold water. As soon as something homogeneous is formed from the dough, we take it out and mold it in the shape of a ball.

Now you need to separate one third of the dough from the dough and wrap both parts in plastic wrap (separately from each other) and put them in the refrigerator for half an hour.

Most of the dough is rolled into a layer (1 cm thick), wound on a rolling pin and transferred to the mold. We cut off the excess, form something like a basket with sides from the dough. And put it together with the form in the freezer for 20 minutes.

Beat the egg with sour cream.

Turn on the oven immediately for 180 g to warm up.

Cut the peeled apples into square pieces. Mix with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, flour, melted butter.

The second piece of dough is rolled out 0.5 cm thick. And cut into eight (or more) plates 1.5 cm wide each.

We put the filling of apples in a basket of dough and use a brush to coat the sides of the pie with egg whipped with sour cream.

We put four plates of dough on the pie.

We lay out the other four plates perpendicular to the first and intertwine them both (like a basket).

We cut off the extra pieces of dough that we need, pinch.

We put it to bake for one hour or less.

It is best to cool American pie before serving.

In America, it is usually served garnished with vanilla ice cream.
