Kugelis

While the dish is being prepared, your appetite will be greatly inflamed by such flavors! Preparation by composition - 35 min., cooking in the oven - 60 min. And also - the potatoes are a little dry, before you put them in the oven, it's better to grease the top with mayonnaise! I suggest you cook a Lithuanian dish "kugelis". I have never tried Lithuanian cuisine before, but it so happened that my friend recently married a Lithuanian. And now his mother generously shares with my friend culinary recipes of Lithuanian cuisine, and friends, of course, share them with me. To be honest, some dishes are not quite familiar to us, so to speak, "for an amateur", but my whole family immediately liked Kugelis and now I am happy to cook it. The charm of this dish is that it is incredibly satisfying and I cook it with different types of meat all the time.

If the meat is raw, then I marinate it with onions for 2 hours. If it's smoked, I don't do anything.
Peel the potatoes and grate them on a fine grater (you can also pass them through a meat grinder). I flip it into a colander to drain the juice.
Meanwhile, I heat up the frying pan and fry finely chopped bacon and onions until golden brown. Pour in the milk, season with salt and pepper. I bring it to a boil and immediately turn it off.
Add this mixture to grated potatoes and mix thoroughly.
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. I cover the baking sheet with food foil, spread the meat cut into pieces and pour potatoes. I cook for an hour and a half.
