Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 2 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make cabbage rolls in the oven? Prepare the ingredients. I have Savoy cabbage, but you can take white cabbage - it is used in the classic recipe. You can wind up the stuffing yourself or buy ready-made in the store. Any minced meat will do. Peel onions, carrots and cabbage, wash and dry.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Chop the peeled onion in a blender or chop it finely. Rinse the rice in running water, then boil it in salted water. Discard the rice on a sieve. In a bowl, combine onion, rice, minced meat, spices, salt to taste and mix everything well.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

I had a not very dense head of cabbage, I disassembled it into leaves, and blanched them in boiling water. If the head is dense, then lower it into boiling salted water, having previously cut out the stalk. Remove the cabbage leaves as they soften. Let the leaves cool down.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

From each cabbage leaf, carefully cut off the thickening at the base. Straighten the sheet and put the stuffing of minced meat on it.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Roll the cabbage into a neat envelope. Roll up all the other cabbage rolls in the same way.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Put the rolled cabbage rolls into a baking dish. Stack them tightly together and seam down.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Prepare the products for the sauce.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Finely chop onions, grate carrots on a coarse grater.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Fry the onion and carrot in a frying pan with the addition of vegetable oil until half cooked. Stir the frying.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Add tomato paste to it, mix. Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Add sour cream to the sauce.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

Pour the sauce with water (about 250-300 ml), mix. Add salt, finely chopped herbs, spices, bay leaf. Bring the sauce to a boil, let it simmer for 1-2 minutes.

  13. Step 13:

    Step 13.

Pour the sauce over the cabbage rolls in the form. Cover the mold with foil and bake the dish at 200 degrees for about 40 minutes. Keep in mind that the cooking time depends only on the characteristics of your oven.

For the preparation of cabbage rolls, you can use white cabbage, but from Savoy cabbage rolls will be more tender. After all, the leaves of this cabbage are softer and thinner. Cabbage rolls are baked in the oven in sour cream and tomato sauce with vegetables, which gives the dish a rich taste and aroma. Serve cabbage rolls hot with any side dish (except rice) or as an independent dish.

Keep in mind that everyone's ovens are different. The temperature and cooking time may differ from those specified in the recipe. To make any baked dish successful, use the useful information about the features of ovens !
