Fern salad with sesame oil and soy sauce

Spicy delicious salad appetizer with a Far Eastern accent! Fern dishes are very popular in our family. One of them is a spicy salad. It can be made from both fresh and salted fern. Its taste reminds someone of eggplants, someone of mushrooms. Well, I personally think that the fern has its own special taste, and it is impossible to describe it in words-you have to try it! This salad can be done on a festive table, but it is advisable to prepare it a day before serving so that it is well infused. Today I made a salad of fern, salted last year.

    Drain the brine from the fern, rinse, fill with cold water. Soak for 12 hours, periodically changing the water. After that, pour boiling water and leave for an hour. Then we throw it on a sieve.

    Chop the onion into half rings. In a large frying pan, heat the oil, put the onion and, stirring, fry for five minutes, until brownish.

    Cut the fern stems into two parts.

    We send it to the onion in the pan, mix it gently, cover it with a lid. We turn down the fire. We cook for five minutes.

    Then pour in soy sauce, add pepper, mix, cover with a lid. We cook for ten minutes.

    After that, add salt, if necessary (depends on the salinity of the soy sauce), put the crushed garlic, stir for the last time, close the lid and turn off the fire. Let it stand for another seven or eight minutes.

    We put the finished salad into a large salad bowl, lick our lips, cover with a lid and put it in the refrigerator! For three hours, or better for the night. Bon appetit!
