Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h 30 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to bake a shortbread pie with apples? Prepare all the necessary ingredients and the necessary inventory (a detachable mold, containers in which the filling and dough will be prepared, a knife, a vegetable peeler, a cutting board). Remove the butter from the refrigerator in advance, since it is necessary to use softened butter during the cooking process.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

At the beginning, prepare the filling for the pie. Choose the apple variety according to your taste. If you prefer more sour varieties of apples, then use Antonovka or Bogatyr - these are usually green apples. If you like it sweeter, then take apples of red varieties. Wash the apples thoroughly. Using a vegetable peeler, peel them, remove the core and bones, then cut the apples into small pieces. Their size should be no more than 1 cm x 1 cm.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Now pour the juice of one lemon into the container to the apples, add brown sugar, add starch and cinnamon. Mix all the ingredients and leave for 30 minutes at room temperature. During this time, the juice will be released from the apples. Note. The amount of sugar in the filling can be increased or decreased. It depends on two factors: the acid of the apples used and personal preferences.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Now prepare the dough for the future pie. To do this, sift the flour with baking powder through a sieve. Then add the remaining ingredients: sugar, soft butter, egg, a little salt and lemon zest (I grated on a fine grater). Mix all the ingredients with your hands, connecting them together. Do this until the dough begins to gather into crumbs and small pieces.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Cover the bottom of the split mold with parchment (I have a 24 cm shape). Pour 2/3 of the dough crumbs on the bottom, smooth and lightly tamp.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Put the apple filling on the bottom.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Fill the pie evenly with the remains of the dough on top. Preheat the oven to 180 ° C. Bake the cake for 35-45 minutes, until the top turns golden. Determine the exact baking time by your oven.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

If desired, you can sprinkle the cake with powdered sugar before serving. Have a nice tea party!

Note. When preparing this pie, a split mold with a diameter of 24 cm was used .

Be prepared for the fact that flour may need more or less than indicated in the recipe. Focus not on the amount of flour, but on the desired consistency of the dough. To avoid mistakes, read about flour and its properties!

Be sure to wash eggs before use, as even seemingly clean shells may contain harmful bacteria. It is best to use food detergents and a brush.

Keep in mind that everyone's ovens are different. The temperature and cooking time may differ from those specified in the recipe. To make any baked dish successful, use useful information about the features of ovens !
