The ability to prepare such a drink as mead at home is one of its advantages.
Mead becomes stronger from the aging period. If it is consumed immediately after cooking, then it will taste more like kvass. Therefore, if you want to get a more alcoholic drink, you need to let it brew for at least 2-3 months.
To add flavor to the drink during fermentation, fresh berries and various spices are added, such as ginger, nutmeg, cloves and others.
It is best to store mead in glassware — bottles or cans. But in ancient times it was stored in wooden barrels and treated with it only on big holidays. Therefore, the aging of such a drink in those days was very long.

For cooking, it is better to use filtered or bottled water that is neutral to taste. If you use tap water, keep in mind that it can give the dish an unpleasant characteristic taste.
