Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 35 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make cakes on kefir in a frying pan? Prepare the necessary products. Take kefir at room temperature. Pour kefir into a bowl and add soda. Stir so that the soda reacts with kefir.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Separately in a bowl, beat the raw egg with a fork. In a bowl with kefir, add salt and sugar. Pour in 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and beaten egg. Mix everything with a whisk.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Start gradually pouring the flour sifted through a strainer, stirring the dough. You can combine these processes by simultaneously pouring and sifting flour.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Mix everything well until smooth. Do not pour all the flour at once, add it in parts. Keep in mind that you may take more or less flour than I do. Focus on the consistency of the dough.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

The dough should gather into a ball and fall well behind the walls of the bowl. At the same time, it will be sticky and runny. We don't touch it with our hands. Leave the dough in the bowl for 10 minutes to rest. You can cover it with a towel or cling film.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Now proceed to the formation of cakes. Sift a small amount of flour on the table, a spoon is enough. Brush your hands with vegetable oil and pinch off the dough piece by piece. It will be about 4 parts. They will make 4 small cakes with a diameter of 12 centimeters. If you want to make large cakes, then there will be fewer of them - two or three. Form round tortillas from the dough according to the diameter of your frying pan.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Put a frying pan on the stove, pour vegetable oil into it and heat it. Transfer the tortilla to the pan and fry it on medium heat on one side for about 5 minutes. The dough will be covered with bubbles and rise well. I used a small cast-iron frying pan, which just matched the diameter of my small tortillas.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Turn the tortilla to the other side and fry for about 5 more minutes. Prepare the rest of the tortillas in the same way. They should be well browned and become lush. It is not necessary to transfer them to a napkin, since they are not soaked in oil. Ready-made tortillas are served to the table with sour cream.

Fluffy and soft tortillas are an excellent addition to the first and second courses. Delicious with any sauce, sour cream, garlic and fresh herbs. You can combine sour cream with green onions, parsley or dill - it will be perfect. You will definitely like these tortillas. Cook with pleasure!

Be prepared for the fact that flour may need more or less than indicated in the recipe. Focus not on the amount of flour, but on the desired consistency of the dough. To avoid mistakes, read about flour and its properties!
