Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Prepare all the necessary products. Take any apples: the sweeter the variety, the sweeter the jam and vice versa. Plum is preferable to the Hungarian variety, not very large, with a well-separated bone. I have ordinary white sugar, but it is quite possible to take brown sugar - it will give a caramel shade, or coconut - it will give a light coconut flavor.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Wash the apples, remove the seed pod and cut into thin slices. In principle, dicing is also suitable for jam, so cut it in any way convenient for you.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Wash the plums, remove the bones. If you have a small plum, you can leave it in halves. I have a large plum, so I cut it the same way as apples: slices of exactly the same size.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Put the sliced apples and plums in a jam-making bowl. It is desirable that it was a saucepan with a thick bottom.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Cover with sugar and leave to infuse for 2 to 12 hours. In any case, do not add water - the juice will be enough.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

When the fruit will release juice, it's time to add some spices. I cook classic jam without additives. But various additives will also be very appropriate here. For example, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger are perfectly combined with apple and plum. Or maybe a spoonful of cocoa powder? It will give the finished jam a chocolate taste. Choose!

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Bring to a boil over low heat.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Reduce the heat to a minimum and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Cooking time is 40-45 minutes. Do not forget to remove the foam that will appear on the surface.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Since we are preparing jam for the winter, the jars need to be sterilized. I put a spoon in the jar and pour a little boiling water, then after 10 minutes I drain the boiling water. But you can also sterilize cans in the microwave and oven. And the lids are enough to boil.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

    Arrange the jam in jars.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Roll up or close tightly with a screw cap. You can store such jam in ordinary apartment conditions. A refrigerator is not required.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

This jam is perfect for tea drinking or baking. Enjoy your meal!
