Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to bake chicken with champignons and cheese in the oven? Prepare the products. To prepare this dish, you can take any part of the chicken, I took chicken thighs. With the breast, the dish will become less caloric. It is better if it is chilled rather than frozen chicken. Champignons can be replaced with other mushrooms. Any cheese is suitable: both hard varieties and softer, for example, mozzarella. The main thing is that it should be of good quality, without milk fat substitutes.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

    Peel and dice the onion.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Clean the mushrooms from dirt by gently rinsing under water. Do not wet them too much, the mushrooms will absorb moisture and become watery. It is better to gently clean off dirt with a sponge. Cut the champignons into small pieces.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan. Add the chopped onion. Fry it until golden brown for 5-7 minutes.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Add mushrooms to the onion, add a little salt so that they give off excess moisture.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Fry the mushrooms with onions until the liquid evaporates. You can add your favorite seasonings for flavor. I added a sprig of thyme.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Wash the chicken well and cut it into pieces. You can remove the skin — this will reduce the calorie content of the dish.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Put the chicken in a heat-resistant baking dish, add a little salt. At this stage, you can add your favorite seasonings to the dish.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Add chopped garlic. I just chopped garlic cloves with a knife. But you can grate it on a fine grater or pass it through a press.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Put the fried mushrooms and onions on the chicken.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater and sprinkle the dish on top. Bake the chicken in a preheated 180 degree oven for about 45 minutes. The top of the dish can be covered with foil so that the cheese does not burn, but make sure that the foil does not adhere too closely to the cheese: during cooking, it will melt and the foil may stick to it. At the end, remove the foil so that the dish is covered with a golden crust.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

Serve the dish to the table immediately while it is hot. Enjoy your meal!

Buy fresh medium-sized mushrooms, snow-white color without spots, damage, rot smell. They should not be slippery to the touch. Thoroughly rinse the mushrooms from the ground under a stream of warm or cold water. Cut out the damaged places, if there are any. Miniature mushrooms up to 2 cm in size do not need to be cleaned at all, it is enough to rinse them well. Larger champignons are recommended to be cleaned from films.
