If there is no time for natural heating, then margarine can be melted a little in a microwave oven or in a water bath. Put the softened margarine in a bowl, add sugar and drive in a chicken egg.

    With a mixer, blender or hand whisk, mix the ingredients until a homogeneous mass is obtained. To add a pleasant aroma to the baking and eliminate the specific taste of margarine, add a pinch of vanilla and mix again. Pour the sifted wheat flour combined with baking powder into a bowl with the mixture. Instead of baking powder, you can use baking soda, slaked with table vinegar, taken in equal parts – half a teaspoon.

    Mix the mass until a smooth elastic dough is obtained, first stir the dough with a spoon, then knead with your hands. However, it is impossible to knead the shortbread dough for a long time, otherwise it will become hard and dense, the main task is to assemble the dough into a ball. Put the ball of dough in a plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerator for half an hour.

    After the specified time, remove the dough from the refrigerator. On a flour-dusted work surface, roll out the dough into a layer no more than one centimeter thick. With a special curly cutting or glass, we cut out figures or circles from the dough.

    We transfer the cookie blanks to a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. If desired, the cookies can be sprinkled with sugar or sesame seeds on top. We send the cookies to a preheated 180 degree oven for 20 minutes. You need to focus on the work of your oven, the cookies should increase slightly in volume and turn brown on top.
