Pear jam with poppy seeds

Unusual bright and very beautiful jam made of fragrant pears. In addition to plums, this year for the first time we had a very generous young pear. We ate some of the fruits just like that, some went into compotes and pastries. The remains were enough for conservation. I saw this jam in a magazine and fell in love with its appearance. As a result, I rolled it myself.

Prepare the ingredients. To make jam from pears with poppy seeds, we will need: pears, sugar, poppy seeds and lemon juice.

Wash, dry, peel and peel the pears. The weight of pears in pure form should be at least 500 g. Cut the prepared fruit into medium slices.

    Step 5.

If desired, the poppy can be fried in a dry pan for about 3 minutes. Then it will become a little more fragrant. Also, so that the seeds are not very hard and do not crunch on the teeth, you can grind the poppy in a coffee grinder. I didn't do it, because I like the crispy poppy. But in baking, I always try to grind poppy seeds - then it reveals its taste qualities better.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

When the pears will let the juice in 2 hours, put the saucepan on the fire. Stirring occasionally, bring to a boil. Cook on low heat for about 20 minutes. Stir the jam periodically.

    Step 7.

When the slices of pears become almost transparent, add the fried poppy seeds.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Cook everything together for another 5-7 minutes.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Put the finished jam in pre-sterilized jars and close the lids. From the specified amount of ingredients, 1 jar of 760 ml was obtained. Turn the jars upside down and wrap them with a towel. Leave in this position until completely cooled. Then turn the jam jars back over.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Store the jam in a dark, dry, cool place out of reach of direct sunlight. Enjoy your meal!

I usually try to avoid conservation - my mother-in-law preserves a lot of things and then we don't have time to eat everything. This year, right now we are urgently finishing cucumbers and jam from last year. And then a new harvest is on the way. But I cooked this jam more because of its appearance - the combination of translucent yellowish slices of pears combined with poppy seeds is very beautiful. Well, how it turned out to taste - we'll find out in winter. Pancakes will be just the thing.
