Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 2 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make pollock salad? Prepare the products. If the fish is frozen, it must be thawed. Do this at room temperature, gradually. It is not necessary to lower the pollock into the water or put it in the microwave - this will worsen the taste of the fish. Sour cream can be added to mayonnaise.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

The fish should be cleaned and cut into pieces if you have a whole carcass. I had steaks right away. Put the pollock in a saucepan, pour the milk. Put it to cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes after boiling. Add a little salt so that the fish is not fresh. But not much, because there will also be salty mayonnaise.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Leave the fish to cool completely right in the milk.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

At the same time with the fish, put the carrots to cook. It must be pre-washed, it is not necessary to clean it. Cook the carrots for about 20 minutes. Then drain the water and cool it.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

In parallel with all the cooking, peel and cut the onion into half rings.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Fry the onion in vegetable oil over low heat until transparent. Cool it down.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

After the fish is completely cooled, separate it from the skin and bones.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

    Then cut into small pieces.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Peel the cooled carrots and grate them on a coarse grater.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

We begin to collect the salad. The first layer is fish. Lubricate it with mayonnaise.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Next comes a layer of carrots. And again mayonnaise on top.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

Put the fried onion in the last layer. Lubricate with mayonnaise.

  13. Step 13:

    Step 13.

Wash the dill greens thoroughly, dry them, chop them finely. Decorate the top of the salad as desired. Let the salad soak a little and serve. Bon appetit!

I was really surprised by this salad. It seems that such simple ingredients are fish, carrots and onions. But all together it gave a very delicate and balanced taste. I think I should have added sour cream to the mayonnaise, it would have been even more tender.

It is better to prepare mayonnaise yourself. It will be tastier and healthier. See the interesting ones here recipes for homemade mayonnaise.
Also, as a dressing, you can use not only mayonnaise, but also sour cream or natural yogurt. They can be taken separately or mixed with mayonnaise in any proportion to your taste - this will reduce the calorie content of the dish.

I served the salad in portions, but you can cook it with one big salad.
If you are not preparing a salad for a holiday, then just mix all the ingredients without stacking them in layers.
Fish can be boiled simply in water.
A delicious addition to this salad will be an additional layer of eggs and cheese.
