Delicious, hearty pie for the festive table and not only! Kurnik, cooked on kefir, is prepared very quickly, but it turns out to be very tasty, soft and nutritious, in no way inferior to baking from yeast dough.

Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Prepare the ingredients according to the list. Let's start with the preparation of unleavened dough. Pour kefir at room temperature into a bowl, it is not necessary that kefir should be fresh, yesterday's slightly sour kefir will do. Add soda and salt, mix. Pour melted and cooled to room temperature butter. Mix again.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Pour in the sifted wheat flour. Add the flour in parts, mixing the dough well. Flour may require a little more or less, in contrast to the amount indicated in the ingredients.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

The dough should be smooth and elastic in consistency, roll it into a ball and put it in a bag, put it in the refrigerator for half an hour.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Meanwhile, prepare the ingredients for the filling. The chicken breast is washed and boiled until tender in salted water. The meat is cooled a little and finely cut with a knife.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Potatoes are washed and boiled in a uniform, let cool down a little and clean. Cut the potatoes into circles. Onions are cleaned from the husk and finely chopped with a knife.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Take the rested dough out of the refrigerator. We divide it into two parts, one slightly larger than the second. Most of the dough is rolled out on a flour-dusted work surface into a circle-sized baking dish, but with a small margin (you don't need to pour a lot of flour), the dough should remain soft. In a form greased with oil, we spread the dough, forming small sides.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Put potato slices in the center of the pie.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Spread chicken meat on top. Sprinkle everything with chopped onions, salt and pepper to taste. Fill the filling with melted butter at room temperature so that the filling in the pie is juicy.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Cover the filling with a second piece of dough rolled into a thin layer. In the center we make a small hole for steam to escape during baking. The edges of the pie are carefully fastened. From the remains of the dough, you can make figures for decorating a pie. Grease the pie with a beaten chicken egg on top and send it to a preheated 180 degree oven for 30 minutes.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

We take out a ruddy and fragrant pie. We serve it to the table with tea or coffee. Bon appetit!
