Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h 20 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make a salad of shrimp and crab sticks? First, prepare the necessary ingredients. Take large selected eggs, if the eggs are small, take 4 pieces.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Boil the shrimp in salted water, cool and peel. You can use any shrimp - large or small. The net weight of the peeled shrimps should be at least 200 g, so if you have shrimps with a head and a shell, take them with a reserve. Leave a few whole shrimps to decorate the salad.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Cut the remaining shrimp into small pieces.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Cut crab sticks into small cubes or grate on a coarse grater.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Hard-boil eggs, cool and peel. Separate the whites from the yolks and rub separately into different dishes: whites on a medium grater, yolks on a fine one. Set aside a little grated yolk to decorate the top of the salad.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Grate the cheese on a coarse or medium grater.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

To make the salad not only delicious, but also very beautiful, form it in layers in a culinary ring with a diameter of 16-18 cm. Place the ring on the dish, lay out the first layer of most of the crab sticks. Pour mayonnaise on top. For convenience, I put the mayonnaise in a pastry bag and cut off the tip.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Spread the shrimp evenly with the next layer and also pour mayonnaise.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Spread the grated cheese on the shrimp and pour mayonnaise over it.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

The next layer is grated proteins and mayonnaise.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

The penultimate layer is grated yolks with mayonnaise.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

Sprinkle the top of the salad with the remaining crab sticks. The layer should not be too thick - it is needed more for beauty than for taste. The red and white top of the salad looks very nice on the table. Put the salad in the refrigerator for 1 hour for impregnation.

  13. Step 13:

    Step 13.

Remove the cooking ring before serving. Garnish the salad with the remaining whole shrimp, grated yolk and, if desired, caviar or its imitation. Or as your imagination tells you. Enjoy your meal!

How to buy crab sticks correctly? Be sure to pay attention to the expiration date of the product. Surimi meat (minced white fish) should appear in the list of ingredients in the first place. Important! Do not buy the product if there is frost on it. This is a sign of repeated freezing. Fresh sticks should be free of gray and yellow spots, elastic and slightly moist. If the product is sticky, it means it is spoiled.

If the appearance and structure are not important to you, and time is limited, you can simply cut all the ingredients into small cubes, combine them in a salad bowl and season with mayonnaise.

It is better to prepare mayonnaise yourself. It will be tastier and healthier. See here interesting recipes for homemade mayonnaise.
Also, as a dressing, you can use not only mayonnaise, but also sour cream or natural yogurt. They can be taken separately or mixed with mayonnaise in any proportion to your taste - this will reduce the calorie content of the dish.
