Cooking time: 30 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Prepare the ingredients according to the list. In a deep bowl, sift the wheat flour. It is necessary to do this even for the preparation of tortillas, firstly, to avoid getting various kinds of impurities and garbage with flour into the dough, and secondly, the flour needs to be saturated with oxygen so that the tortillas turn out softer.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

In a bowl with flour, add salt and pour vegetable oil and water. Stir first with a spoon right in the bowl.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Then we spread the sticky mass on the work surface sprinkled with flour and continue kneading the dough with our hands. The dough should turn out smooth and elastic, put it back in the bowl, cover with cling film and leave for 15 minutes on the table. If desired, while the dough is "resting", you can prepare greens for the filling. I made simple tortillas, without filling.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

The "rested" dough is divided into several pieces depending on the desired quantity and size of the prepared tortillas. We roll out each piece of dough on a floured table into a thin round layer.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

To make the cakes more beautiful and smooth, they can be cut on a plate.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Tortillas can be fried in a dry frying pan or in vegetable oil, depending on taste preferences. In the first case, they will turn out to be drier and crisper, but they can be greased with butter hot for greater softness and pleasant aroma, and in the second case, the tortillas will be soft and ruddy.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan, fry the tortillas in preheated oil over medium heat, for 2 minutes on each side, until browned. If the dough on the tortillas starts to swell, you can make several punctures with a fork.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Remove the tortillas from the pan on a paper towel so that the excess oil is absorbed into the paper. We transfer the tortillas to a serving dish and serve them to the table with sour cream and fresh vegetables. greens, or as a substitute for bread for the first or hot. Bon appetit!
