Cooking method

Cooking time: 2 h 40 min

Before you start cooking gingerbread, you need to prepare a special spice mixture. To do this, all the spices and zest must be thoroughly mixed in a bowl of suitable size.

Put honey, granulated sugar and butter in a small saucepan. We put the pan on medium heat, stir, wait for the sugar to completely dissolve. When this happens, remove the pan from the heat and let its contents cool to room temperature. After adding eggs, lemon zest to the saucepan, and also pour out the previously prepared spice mixture. Dilute the baking powder and soda with water, then pour the mixture to the rest of the ingredients. Mix everything well.

Sift the flour. Add it in parts to the other components, knead the dough. Knead it until it stops being sticky. The dough should become smooth and pleasant to the touch. We form a ball from the dough, wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerator for an hour and a half (or longer). When this time has passed, we knead the dough again.

Spread the dough on the work surface, sprinkled with flour. Roll out the dough into a layer about 0.5 cm thick . Turn on the oven to warm up to a temperature of 180 degrees Celsius. We cut out gingerbread cookies from the dough using curly molds. Ideally, if the figures are themed - Christmas and New Year.

Cover the baking sheet with baking paper and spread the blanks on it. Even in their raw form, they are very fragrant! We put the baking sheet in the oven that has had time to warm up for 8-10 minutes. The thinner the gingerbread, the less time it will take. The longer the gingerbread is baked, the harder they will be. Someone likes soft gingerbread, someone hard. We focus on your taste.

Another important point: Lebkuhen gingerbread is not accepted to eat right away. They are allowed to cool down, put in airtight containers and allowed to stand for at least 3 days. The taste after such exposure is noticeably improved. Try it!

Everything is ready. Enjoy your meal!
