First prepare the dough: add sugar, salt and yeast to warm water, add a couple of tablespoons of flour and make a sourdough. Let it bubble up, add a little oil. Then gradually add the sifted flour to make a dough that comes off your hands.

Heat the oil and add the onion, simmer it until tender, lightly season with salt and pepper. Do not boil the onion, it is better when it retains its integrity - after all, it still has to bake, cool the filling.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

After 2 hours, the dough came up - do you see how lush it is? A wonderful light, airy dough.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Roll out half of the dough into a layer, put the onion filling in the middle.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Roll the dough into a roll, pinch the edge tightly, the excess can be cut off.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Brush with sunflower oil (lean version) or egg and sprinkle with herbs or seeds - I took cumin, I really like its aroma and taste.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Bake the roll by placing it in a cold oven and turning it on at 170 degrees. When it is well browned - in 30-35 minutes - the roll is ready.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Remove the onion roll from the oven, cover it with a towel, let it rest. That's all! A lush, fragrant roll with onions at home is ready! Bon appetit!
