Cooking method

Cooking time: 1 h 10 min

Peel the onion and cut into small cubes. Heat up the frying pan, add vegetable oil and fry the onion. It should lighten, become soft, and in the end acquire a pleasant golden color.

Tomatoes can be used fresh or in their own juice. In any case, remove the skin from them and knead with a fork. Excess juice is not drained, it will allow the casserole to become softer.

Minced meat for casserole can be used any. The traditional combination of pork and beef is perfect. If desired, you can replace the part with chicken or turkey. Buying ready-made minced meat will help speed up the process, but you can also cook it yourself. To do this, we wash the fresh meat, cut it into pieces and grind it in a meat grinder.

Add the finished minced meat to the already toasted onion, chop it with a spatula so that the pieces turn out small, and fry the minced meat until ready. In the process, add salt and ground black pepper.

Add the mashed tomatoes, mix, cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

While the meat component is being prepared, let's do the bechamel sauce. In a deep saucepan, melt the butter. When it becomes liquid, add flour, mix quickly with a spoon or a spatula so that lumps do not form.

Without ceasing to stir, fry for 2-3 minutes and pour the milk in a thin trickle. Stir, you can use a whisk to eliminate lumps, and bring to a boil. Boil the sauce over low heat until it becomes thick, like dough for pancakes. In the process, add salt and pepper.

Boil the horns until tender in salted water. As soon as the pasta is ready, we discard it in a colander and rinse it.

Grate the cheese on a large or medium grater and proceed to the formation of the casserole. Put the pasta on the bottom of the mold and pour half of the bechamel sauce over them. The next layer is laid out with minced meat, leveled and filled with the remaining sauce.

Sprinkle the casserole with cheese and send it to the oven for 25 minutes at a temperature of 180 degrees. All the products were prepared in advance, so as soon as the cheese is baked and gets a golden crust, you can get the casserole, decorate it with fresh herbs if desired and serve it to the table.

Bon appetit!
