Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 15 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Prepare the products according to the list. Bread for croutons can be taken fresh, or it can be slightly dried, in addition, some make croutons with black bread, with bread with bran, etc. We will fry croutons in butter, so take good butter. I will cook the simplest croutons, but you can also cook sweet ones, so you can take sugar to taste. Prepare a deep wide bowl and frying pan for frying.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Cut a loaf of white bread into slices 1 centimeter thick, I take the slicing right away. In a deep bowl, beat the egg lightly, add salt to taste (or if you make sweet, add sugar to taste). Pour in the milk and mix the mixture.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Dip each slice of white bread into the mixture and leave in a bowl. You need to dip each piece until the liquid in the bowl runs out.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Heat the frying pan over medium heat, put the butter and wait until it melts completely.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Put slices of bread dipped in egg mixture on a frying pan heated with oil and fry until a yellow-golden crust forms first on one side, then gently turn over, and on the other side. The heating should be medium, so that the bread does not fry quickly and an unpleasant smell does not come from the oil.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Ready-made croutons to serve immediately. This is an independent dish. It can be accompanied by sausages, porridge or simply supplemented with sugar, jam, honey. Serve with hot tea or coffee.

Breakfast of such croutons has been familiar to us since childhood - who hasn't cooked such toasted pieces of bread!?! They are prepared in a matter of minutes, however, they disappear in a matter of seconds.

Previously, such croutons were served just like that, in my childhood they were necessarily sprinkled with sugar. In the modern menu, such croutons are served with honey, caramel, jam. They are supplemented with fruits and berries, the most common option with a banana. There are also not sweet options - with cheese, sausage, red salted fish, ham.

Usually such croutons are fried in a frying pan, but they can be cooked in the oven, slow cooker or even in the microwave.
