Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h 15 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to grill mackerel? Prepare the products. If you use frozen mackerel, then defrost it beforehand. Remove the fish from the freezer and leave at room temperature until completely defrosted. Defrosted mackerel clean from the entrails, remove the fins, cut off the head and tail. Be sure to remove the black film from the abdomen, it is very bitter.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Clean the cleaned fish well in running water from the inside and outside and dry thoroughly with a paper towel to remove excess water from it.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Remove the ridge from the mackerel and cut it lengthwise into two halves.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Prepare the marinade. How to make marinade? To prepare it, take a separate bowl and pour soy sauce and vegetable oil into it. Squeeze a little juice from the lemon into the marinade.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Then add a little salt and spices to taste for the fish. As a spice, I use ready-made sets for fish. When adding salt, consider the fact that soy sauce itself is quite salty. Do not over-salt. Mix all the contents of the bowl.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Dip the mackerel in the marinade so that it covers it evenly on all sides. Leave the fish in the bowl for one hour so that it is slightly marinated.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Preheat the electric grill to cook the fish. Lubricate it thoroughly with vegetable oil. It is convenient to do this with a brush. Remove the fish from the marinade and blot a little with a paper towel. This is necessary in order to remove the excess marinade. When putting fish on the grill, hot splashes can fly. Place the fish on the grill with the skin up and cover with a lid. Cook the fish for 5-7 minutes.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Mackerel is cooked very quickly. All the excess fat with it will drain into a special tray under the grill.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Put the finished fish on a plate and serve it to the table. You can supplement the fish with fresh boiled potatoes and fresh vegetables. Bon appetit!

Note that the quality and taste of the finished dish largely depends on the proper defrosting of the ingredients. How to avoid mistakes and choose the best way, read the article about defrosting.

How to properly cut a whole fish into fillets? Remove the tail, head and fins. Cut the carcass along the spine to the spine. Turn it on its side. With a sharp knife, cut the meat from the backbone bone. Turn the carcass over and cut the fillet from the other side. Clean the inside by removing the black film, as it is bitter and will spoil the taste. Rinse and be sure to dry well.

If you use ready-made spice mixes, be sure to read the composition on the package. Often, salt is already present in such mixtures, take this into account, otherwise you risk over-salting the dish.
