Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 45 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to fry chicken drumsticks in soy sauce? Prepare all ingredients. Choose oil with a high smoking temperature. If you bought frozen chicken legs, first defrost them, preferably slowly, on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. Then wash the shins and blot them with napkins.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Fry the washed and dried chicken drumsticks in a preheated frying pan in vegetable oil for 2-3 minutes on each side. At this stage of cooking, we do not strive to bring the shins to readiness, it is important for us to fry them on top, sealing all the juices inside. The finished chicken in this case will be much tastier.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Pour water into the pan and simmer under the lid for about 15 minutes. Since everyone has different dishes and appliances, make sure that during this time the water in the pan does not boil off. If the water has evaporated too quickly, add a little more water so that the chicken does not burn.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Then open the lid, sprinkle each drumstick with sugar and simmer under the lid for about 10 more minutes.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Now pour in the soy sauce and simmer under the lid for another 5-7 minutes, turning the shins periodically.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Sprinkle the finished chicken with sesame seeds and serve with your favorite side dish. Bon appetit!

When adding soy sauce to a dish, it is worth considering that it has a rather salty taste. In this recipe, chicken drumsticks are cooked without adding salt for this very reason.

To check whether the oil has warmed up well enough in the pan, you can do it in a simple way. Lower a wooden spatula into it. If bubbles have gathered around it, then you can start the frying process.

Use oil with a high smoking temperature for frying! Any oils are useful only until a certain temperature is reached - the point of smoking, at which the oil begins to burn and toxic substances, including carcinogens, are formed in it.
Unrefined oils, with rare exceptions, have a low smoking point. There are a lot of unfiltered organic particles in them, which quickly begin to burn.
Refined oils are more resistant to heating, and their smoking point is higher. If you are going to cook food in the oven, on a frying pan or grill, make sure that you use oil with a high smoking point. The most common of the oils with a high smoking point: refined varieties of sunflower, olive and grape.
