Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 2 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to bake chicken with cabbage in the oven? Prepare all the necessary products. Any chicken parts can be used for the recipe. I took the ham this time. If you have frozen meat, then take it out of the freezer beforehand and leave it at room temperature until it thaws completely. I used young cabbage, it has more tender leaves, and therefore it turned out to be softer and juicier in the finished dish.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Cut the chicken into portions of the same size. Rinse the meat, dry it with paper napkins and send it to a deep bowl. Add mayonnaise, salt and pepper to taste. At this stage, you can use any spices that you like.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Mix everything well and leave to marinate for half an hour to an hour at room temperature.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Remove the outer leaves from the cabbage. Rinse the head and dry it. Cut the cabbage into strips with a knife. Don't make the strips too thin.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Peel the carrots and onions. Cut the onion into half rings or cubes, and grate the carrots on a grater with large teeth. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan. Pass the vegetables until the onion is transparent.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Add the tomato paste, stir and leave on the stove for another minute. Tomato paste can be excluded from the recipe if desired.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Send the tomato roast to the cabbage. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

    Mix thoroughly.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Put the cabbage in a suitable-sized mold, and spread the pickled chicken on top. During the baking process, the cabbage will settle and its volume will decrease almost twice.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Send the mold to the preheated oven. Bake the chicken with cabbage until the meat is ready. Determine the time and temperature yourself, focusing on the capabilities of your oven. I baked at 200 degrees for about 50 minutes. At the end of cooking, I turned on the convection mode and left it for another 10 minutes until the chicken browned.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Serve the dish hot, garnished with fresh herbs.

Bon appetit!

Chicken can be replaced with turkey or any other type of meat at your request. But keep in mind that in this case, the cooking time and calorie content of the dish will change.

If you use ready-made spice mixes, be sure to read the composition on the package. Often, salt is already present in such mixtures, take this into account, otherwise you risk over-salting the dish.

Tomato paste in this recipe can be replaced with tomatoes in their own juice, fresh tomatoes or ketchup.

Keep in mind that everyone's ovens are different. The temperature and cooking time may differ from those specified in the recipe. To make any baked dish successful, use the useful information about the features of ovens !
