Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 2 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

My dad served in Germany in his youth. It was there that he first tasted this delicate pie! And now, 30 years later, I decided to renew his memories of army life. The pie resembles a royal cheesecake, but the filling is richer and more interesting. I suggest you try this masterpiece. And so let's get started. To begin with, we will prepare all the ingredients. We will put the butter for the dough in the freezer in advance. 15 minutes.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Sift the flour. Add sugar, salt and soda. Mix everything together. Add the grated butter, frozen in advance, to the flour. With dry hands, we rub everything into crumbs. We put it in the refrigerator while the filling is being prepared.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Proceed to the filling. Pour milk, butter and sugar into a saucepan. Over low heat, stirring, bring to a boil.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Add poppy seeds to the milk mass, and gently stirring, add semolina. Mix everything thoroughly, cover with a lid and remove to infuse for 10 minutes.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

While the poppy-milk mass is infused, we use a blender (if there is none, you can use a mixer) mix the cottage cheese and egg well. Add to the poppy-milk mass and mix thoroughly.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

The filling is ready! Let's start laying out the dough!

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Grease the form (I have 28 cm) with butter. 2/3 of the dough is spread on the bottom and sides. We spread our filling on the dough.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Pour the remaining dough on top, level.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

In a preheated 180 degree oven, put our pie for about 1 hour.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Ruddy, appetizing and with an incredible smell!!! Our pie is ready! Let it cool COMPLETELY! COMPLETELY! And enjoy...bon appetit!

I confess, this German pie with cottage cheese and poppy seeds won my heart from the first time. Crumbly sweet dough and an abundance of delicate cottage cheese filling makes this pastry festive and incredibly delicious. It is simply impossible to take your eyes off the final photo of this recipe! I hope you like it too. I will look forward to your feedback.
