This classic recipe does not cease to be relevant to this day! Potatoes in our family are a cult vegetable. I know for sure that any potato food and any culinary recipe based on potatoes will sooner or later be cooked in our kitchen. One of the most favorite recipes, which has always been popular since childhood, is potato casserole. We ate it with pleasure in kindergarten, in the school cafeteria, and now, when I want to remember my childhood, I cook it. The recipe itself is very simple.

You need to cook mashed potatoes. To do this, peel the potatoes, boil them in salted water. While the potatoes are cooking, you need to finely chop the onion and fry it in a frying pan with minced meat. In the process, salt and pepper the minced meat to taste. At the same time, you can turn on the oven. After the potatoes are cooked, drain the water, and mash the potatoes themselves and, without letting them cool down, add butter and milk. A little later in the puree, when it cools down a little, you can add a couple of raw chicken eggs (the casserole will still be cooked in the oven, so do not worry that salmonella bacteria can get into the food with eggs). Then everything is simple. Take a baking dish or a frying pan that can be put in the oven. Lubricate them with oil. Divide the mashed potatoes in half. Put the first part on the bottom of the mold, add a layer of minced meat and another layer of potatoes on top. If desired, the casserole can be poured with mayonnaise, sour cream or sprinkled with grated cheese. We put the mold in the oven (180-190 degrees) and take it out after about half an hour, when a beautiful golden crust forms.
