Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h 40 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Prepare all the necessary ingredients for steamed meatballs in a slow cooker. You can use any minced meat: from beef, pork or a mixture of beef and pork, chicken or turkey.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Pre-boil the rice in a large amount of salted water until it is half cooked. It takes half as much time. If you need to cook rice for 15 minutes until it is fully cooked, then for a state of semi-readiness it needs to be cooked for 7-8 minutes. Therefore, read the instructions on the package! It is better to use steamed rice so that it retains its shape during cooking and steaming. Put the rice in a colander and cool. It should turn out crumbly.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Mince is best to take fresh. If the minced meat is frozen, defrost it in the refrigerator in the evening. Squeeze out excess moisture. Because of the excess liquid in the minced meat, meatballs can fall apart. Therefore, before mixing minced meat with other ingredients, it is better to check it for excessive humidity.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Peel the carrots and grate them on a medium or coarse grater. The finer the carrots are grated, the softer the meatballs will be in structure.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Rinse the dill, dry it and chop it finely. In addition to dill, you can chop other herbs to taste: parsley, cilantro.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

In a bowl, combine the minced meat, rice, carrots, egg and dill. Season everything with salt and pepper.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Knead the minced meat thoroughly with your hands.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Form small round meatballs from the resulting minced meat and put them in a special bowl with holes at the bottom for steaming. 8 meatballs fit into my bowl. I put the remaining 4 meatballs in a bag and froze them.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Pour 2-3 cups of water into the main bowl of the slow cooker. If desired, add allspice and bay leaves to flavor the steam. Place a grate with meatballs on top.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Cook meatballs on Steam mode for about 40 minutes. Depending on the brand of the slow cooker, it may take a little more or a little less time. The name of the mode can also vary: "Steamer ", "Steamed ", etc .

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Serve ready-made meatballs immediately with any side dish and sour cream. Enjoy your meal!

Keep in mind that the cooking time and mode are indicated approximately in the recipe. All slow cookers work differently and even the same models of the same manufacturer may have their own characteristics. Before you start cooking a new dish for you in a slow cooker, carefully study the instructions for it, and then in practice try to cook dishes that are familiar to you first, and then new ones, choosing the mode and time individually for your own technique.
