Pour cold water over the pearl barley and leave it in the refrigerator overnight. Then drain the water and pour the grits into a saucepan. Pour clean water and boil the pearl barley for 15 minutes. In a separate saucepan, heat the milk. Drain the water from the pearl barley and pour the grains into the milk, add sugar and salt. Cook the porridge over low heat or in a water bath until the grains are soft, about 30-45 minutes. At the end, add the butter and mix. Serve pearl porridge with fresh berries to the table.
