Herring by fur coat or as this salad is also called Fur Coat, one of the most common salads in Russia and neighboring countries. Like all the best and popular, the recipe for herring under a fur coat is found in different variations, the recipes of which differ in the number of layers and the replacement of some of them. Traditionally, herring under a fur coat appears both as a main meal, and just as a light snack at almost all festive feasts. There are options for herring under a fur coat with onions, with apples, without eggs, or without potatoes. Onions, if used, can be fresh, cut into small cubes, scalded with boiling water or pickled in advance. Salad dressing can be either mayonnaise or mayonnaise with mustard. There are variations when, in order for the salad to keep its shape well, dissolved gelatin is added to the mayonnaise. That is, there are many options for herring salad under a fur coat, and they will still appear.
But the main thing is that a fur coat for herring is consistently stacked layers of boiled vegetables. If you believe the dictionaries, the most obligatory of them are, in addition to herring, potatoes, eggs and beets – minimalism style.
By the way, there is already an option with apples here, so let's do a basic (classic) recipe. He has also settled down with carrots.
To do this, we need to peel the herring (as a result, we should have only the pitted fillet). Cut the fillet into small cubes. Boil the beetroot – it cooks the longest of all vegetables. Boil potatoes and carrots, as well as eggs. Everything that we cooked, peel and shell and grate on a coarse grater. Everything is separate for now. Then put all the products in a deep dish layer by layer and lubricate each layer with mayonnaise. For example, first potatoes, herring, eggs, carrots, beets. If the layers are low and the dishes are small in diameter, you can repeat. It is desirable to finish the layout of the layers on beetroot. Let's not forget to smear it with mayonnaise too. And we send it all to the refrigerator for two hours.
Before serving, you can decorate with strips or waves of mayonnaise, herbs, eggs cut into circles or just sprinkle with finely grated egg (simply and effectively), but you need to do this before serving, so that our decoration does not fade and does not wind up.
