Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Fry the nuts in a frying pan.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Cook rice in milk, or as usual on water (in this case, less milk will be needed) - at the end add milk (if cooked on water), nuts, saffron, cardamom and turmeric - cook.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Remove from heat and add raisins (or add raisins at the cooking stage - then it will saturate the liquid and be more juicy).

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Then there are two options: 1. Add melted butter and sugar (cane sugar is best - then khir will have an original Indian taste). 2. Add butter (or do not add butter). Wait until it cools down and add honey. It is important to remember that honey and melted butter are incompatible - their combination in one dish can be dangerous to health.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

After cooling, pour the pudding into the creamers, decorate with nuts when serving.

In the original, khir is prepared with sugar, but given the less useful properties of our beet sugar compared to cane sugar (which is used in original Indian dishes), it is better for us to use honey (remembering that it is incompatible with melted butter).
