A replacement for carbonated drinks can be found in your own garden. Quince will give you a wonderful compote for a hot day. Finding a jug or jar with a drink in the refrigerator, your family will quench their thirst with a cool natural product. Henomeles (Japanese quince) is widely used for cooking. Fresh quince can be added to tea like lemon, and it also gives borscht and cabbage soup a pleasant sourness. You can prepare fresh quinces for the winter as well as apples, storing them in wooden boxes.
When preparing quince compote, you can change the recipe a little, taking into account your own taste.
Mature fruits of the same size are thoroughly washed, we remove the middles, we peel them from the skin. Cut the fruit into slices. Quince slices are filled with cold water and kept for a couple of hours to reduce the amount of organic acids.
In a high saucepan, boil the water and lower the quince into boiling water, after 5 minutes, pour the sugar according to the recipe and cook the compote until the slices are soft. Turn off the heat on the stove and pour grated lemon or orange zest for flavor.
Several tablespoons of white wine are poured into the chilled compote (for adults). Compote is served in tall glasses with mint leaves.
