Lazy cabbage "Kryukovsky" in a slow cooker. This dish was prepared by my grandmother, who lived in Kryukov-on-the-Dnieper, Poltava region. A dish of Ukrainian cuisine, something in between cabbage soup and stewed cabbage for pies.
Pour boiling water over the millet for 30-40 minutes. before laying in the bowl of the slow cooker. Millet groats can be taken and more, as anyone likes it. Fry the onion in lard, cut it into cubes and bring it to a golden hue in pork rinds. Grandmother took the old, yellow pork fat, on which she made a roast for borscht and other dishes. It is this kind of fat that will give a special unique flavor and aroma to our dish. And seasonings can be any to your taste. Next, peel the apple, cut into cubes of 0.5x0.5 cm. The sweet and sour apple variety gives a subtle taste of calvados with sourness. It is not necessary to add an apple - this is for an amateur. It is stewed in a slow cooker in the "Quenching" mode - 1 hour. You can let it brew for 20-30 minutes . or serve immediately with sour cream and dill, parsley. For more demanding eaters, a good beef stew is added to the cabbage, meat cooked as for a meat roast. But then it will no longer be a "lazy cabbage", but another dish. I do not know what to call it, because I did not cook with meat. Lazy cabbage soup can be recommended for a vegetarian table if frying is done in vegetable oil. It is served well and cold, you can eat without bread, but always with sour cream. There are obviously a lot of signs in the description of ordinary cabbage, I found several similar recipes, but they all differ from each other. This is understandable. My recipe is a historical excursion to the mid-50s of the 20th century, only I remember it. Even my relative in Kremenchug (that's the name of that area now) does not remember all the nuances of cooking this delicious dish. If you add more water and potatoes, then we will come to the traditional Ukrainian cabbage soup. Also not bad. Enjoy your meal!
