Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 2 h 30 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make banana chips at home in the oven? Prepare the products. Bananas for chips are not very ripe, fruits with brown spots will not work — they are too soft.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Wash and dry the bananas well. Peel them and cut them into thin slices. The thinner the pieces, the faster the chips will dry.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Squeeze the juice out of the lemon, remove the bones, if there are any.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Grease a baking sheet with a small amount of vegetable oil or cover with parchment. Dip each piece in lemon juice so that the bananas do not darken when drying. Put the pieces of bananas in one layer, leaving a small distance between them.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Preheat the oven to 65°C. I used the top-bottom mode. You can dry bananas with convection function, so they will dry faster. But then they will have to be constantly monitored so that they do not burn down. A gas oven is not suitable for this recipe, you will not be able to keep the temperature at the proper level.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Dry the bananas for about two hours. Look at their condition — they will gradually begin to give off moisture and dry out. You can speed up the drying process if you increase the temperature to 80°-90°C. But then the chips will come out very dark. Instead of a baking sheet, you can take a suitable grate — so the bananas will also dry faster.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Hot bananas stay a little flexible. Carefully remove them from the baking sheet and let cool. The finished chips will become harder. If desired, you can sprinkle them with any seasonings or powdered sugar. Store banana chips in an airtight container.

My chips turned out to be different — thick pieces came out a little soft, and those that were thin became hard. They taste very rich, fragrant and sweet.

Any heat-resistant form is suitable for this recipe. If you use a silicone mold, then you do not need to smear it with butter or margarine. But it is better to lightly lubricate metal, ceramic or glass dishes with vegetable oil so that the baking does not burn.

Keep in mind that everyone's ovens are different. The temperature and cooking time may differ from those specified in the recipe. To make any baked dish successful, use useful information about the features of ovens !

So that the oven has time to heat up to the desired temperature, turn it on in advance (10-20 minutes before the start of cooking).
