Long Island Cocktail

Is in the top 5 best-selling cocktails in the world! Of the long drinks, the bar version of the Long Island cocktail is probably my favorite. Sweet and sour and as alcoholic as possible, it has its own well-recognized taste and aroma. Making this cocktail at home now is a couple of trifles!

Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 10 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Long Island is prepared and served in a cocktail glass "Highball". The glass is filled with ice cubes to the top, but I pour only half of the glass to my taste. I prefer to drink long drinks slowly, and in my glass any amount of ice has time to melt completely, inevitably distorting the taste of the drink. And you put ice to your taste.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Add vodka. Bartenders use special measuring cups - jiggers. At home, I recommend using kitchen scales and a regular stack.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

    Add sugar syrup.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

    Followed by dry gin.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Then, in the classic version, white rum (but you can also dark, no one will notice much :)

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

    Tequila is the next element.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Squeeze lemon juice (or lime juice, whichever you like) directly into the glasses. I will prepare both options. Naturally, the bones should not get into the glass. Therefore, be safe - squeeze the juice through a strainer. Mix the cocktail with a teaspoon.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

And top up the classic taste cola to the edge.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Decorate a glass with lemon slices. I cut the lime into segments and added it directly to the drink in the second glass. Decoration is a space for imagination. Long Island is served with two tubes.

By the way, sugar syrup can be prepared independently. Do it like this: take equal parts of sugar and water, mix in a saucepan and bring to a boil with constant stirring. All sugar crystals should dissolve. Then the syrup is cooled.

Cocktail, the full name of which is "Long Island Ice Tea" (Iced tea from Long Island) was invented during prohibition in the northeastern United States, on the island of Long Island, New York, disguising it as tea. Interestingly, even now it is sometimes served in teapots or French presses :)

Be careful with Long Island! This insidious, but very tasty cocktail is one of the most alcoholic longs on the map of the International Association of Bartenders. And after all, it is drunk so easily and naturally!

Enjoy!

Use cold boiled or non-carbonated purified water for ice. Do not take tap water, it will give the drink an unpleasant taste. Boil the water for about 2 minutes. Cool it down. Repeat boiling. Cool to room temperature. Pour into ice molds. Place in the freezer until completely solidified.
