1. Boil the pearl barley until half cooked in a large amount of salted water, drain the water, rinse the pearl barley and let the water drain.
2. Cut the meat into cubes of 1x1 cm. marinate in a marinade of salt, pepper and lemon juice, put in the refrigerator for 1 hour. Remove excess liquid from the pickled meat, wipe with paper towels. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and lightly fry until golden brown, add a little water and then simmer for 20 minutes over medium heat.
3. Peel and finely chop the onion, heat the olive oil in a frying pan and lightly fry until transparent, add the mushrooms and fry together. Add meat.
4. Add crushed and chopped garlic, crushed cumin, paprika to meat, onions and mushrooms and simmer on low heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
5. Add the vegetable mixture and pearl barley to the meat. Add salt, pepper and vegetable broth. Cover with a lid and then cook for 5-7 minutes until the liquid boils and the pearl barley is ready.
