Boil potatoes, beets, carrots and eggs.
Finely chop the peeled onion.
If the onion is bitter, then you can scald it with boiling water.
We peel vegetables and eggs.
Dishes for this salad should be chosen wide, with a flat bottom. I have two suitable, very cute herrings for this purpose.
We spread the herring with the first layer. Distribute evenly over the bottom, lightly press down with your hand. I cut the fillet not very finely, it's a matter of taste.
The second layer is onion. We distribute it exactly over the herring.
All vegetables and eggs will need to be grated on a coarse grater as the layers are laid out.
Grate potatoes.
We spread it with the third layer. We distribute the potatoes so that the onion is not visible.
Lubricate the potato layer with mayonnaise.
Grate the eggs.
This is the fourth layer. Similarly to the previous one, all subsequent layers are laid out in such a way that the lower ones are not visible.
The egg layer is also lubricated with mayonnaise.
Now three carrots.
Distribute over the eggs.
Coat the layer with mayonnaise.
And rub the beets last.
We spread the last beet layer evenly, forming the final shape of the salad with our hands.
It remains only to decorate the "Herring under a fur coat"! It all depends on your creative imagination.
In order to make such a mayonnaise grid, you need to make a small hole in the bag with mayonnaise, and draw a mesh on the surface of the salad squeezed out of the package with a thin stream of mayonnaise.
Additionally, I decorated the salad with green peas and sprigs of greenery. You can also decorate the "Herring under a fur coat" with onion rings, beetroot, carrot or tomato flowers, grated egg yolks, cucumbers, and so on...
"Herring under a fur coat" is best prepared in advance, so that there is time to infuse it in the refrigerator for at least two hours. During this time, all the layers will be soaked in mayonnaise, which will make the salad even more delicious.
The main decoration of the festive table salad "Herring under a fur coat" is ready!
Bon appetit!
