Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 2 hours
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

First I made the filling.I peeled the potatoes and washed them well. Then she cut it into pieces, put it in a saucepan and filled it with water. Boiled potatoes in salted water. Then she peeled onions, cut and fried until soft and golden in vegetable oil. I poured the broth from the finished potatoes into a separate container, I cooked the dough on it. I mashed the finished potatoes. I added fried onions and mixed everything well. The filling is ready.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Then proceeded to prepare the dough. I poured warm potato broth into a deep bowl, then added salt, sugar, fresh yeast, vegetable oil, and mixed the ingredients together with a spoon. The sifted flour was gradually added to the prepared liquid mixture. And kneaded to a state of soft, slightly sticky dough. The finished dough was also kneaded with sunflower oil and put in a warm place for lifting.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

When the dough doubled in volume, I started forming pies. The finished lean dough was divided in half, each half rolled into a bundle, then divided into pieces, each piece rolled into a ball. I rolled the balls into cakes. I put the mashed potato filling in the middle. Joined the edges and pinched well in the shape of a boat.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Fried pies in well-heated vegetable oil over moderate heat on both sides until golden brown. The oil level in the pan should reach the middle of the pie height. Before frying the pies, I checked the heating of the oil, using a small piece of dough. When the piece is browned, you can start frying.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Ready-made pies can optionally be placed on a paper towel to remove excess oil (I didn't do that), then transferred to a dish and can be served hot to the table. I hope you like them! Enjoy your meal!

The dough is universal, perfectly suitable not only for cooking fried pies, but also for other pastries such as, for example, cheese bread, echpochmak.
