Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 2 hours
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to bake a rabbit stewed with sour cream in the oven? Prepare all the necessary products that are listed. The recipe used a carcass weighing 1200 grams, i.e. I doubled the amount of all other components. Rabbit meat has a specific smell, in order to eliminate its carcass, you can soak it in cold water for several hours.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Divide the rabbit into portions. Rinse and dry the meat with paper napkins to get rid of excess moisture. Peel the onion and garlic.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

In a small container, mix a mixture of ground peppers and salt (I added a little mixture of Provencal herbs).

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Smear each piece on all sides with the resulting mixture, as if rubbing it into the meat. Leave for a while at room temperature. 20-30 minutes will be quite enough. You can leave the rabbit in the refrigerator for several hours, the longer it marinates, the tastier the dish will turn out.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan with a thick bottom. Lay out the pieces of rabbit meat and fry on each side until an appetizing golden crust appears. It should be fried over high heat so that the meat is "sealed" on the outside, and the juices remain inside each piece.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Cut the onion into rings. Put some of the rings on the bottom of the baking dish, put the pieces of fried rabbit on top.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Spread the remaining onion on top of the meat.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

In a deep small cup, mix sour cream, water and garlic passed through the press. Add a pinch of salt and ground pepper if desired. I had very thick sour cream, so I used a little more water than indicated in the recipe. The sauce should have the consistency of thick cream.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Spread the sauce evenly over the surface of the meat with onions. Cover the mold with foil and send it to the preheated oven to bake. Set the temperature from 180 to 220 degrees, the mode is "top-bottom". Leave this way for about 1 hour- 1h. 15 minutes.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Next, remove the foil and bake until cooked and golden brown. It took me about 30-40 minutes. The time and temperature may vary and differ from those indicated in the recipe.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Sprinkle the finished dish with fresh herbs. You can serve!

Serve the rabbit as an independent dish with fresh vegetables and salads. Potatoes (for example, mashed potatoes) and boiled buckwheat or rice are very well combined with rabbit meat.

Enjoy your meal!

Since the degree of salinity, sweetness, bitterness, sharpness, acid, burning is individual for everyone, always add spices, spices and seasonings, focusing on your taste! If you put some of the seasonings for the first time, then keep in mind that there are spices that it is especially important not to shift (for example, chili pepper).

You can check whether the oil has warmed up well enough in a frying pan in a simple way. Lower a wooden spatula into it. If bubbles have gathered around it, then you can start the frying process.

Keep in mind that everyone's ovens are different. The temperature and cooking time may differ from those specified in the recipe. To make any baked dish successful, use the useful information about the features of ovens !
