Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to cook lentil cutlets? Rinse the lentils, let the water drain, pour water at room temperature for at least 10 hours, there should be enough water so that the beans are completely covered with it. The room in which the beans will be located should be warm. During this time, the lentils will increase significantly in volume.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Peel the onion, rinse, finely chop and fry in a frying pan with a small amount of vegetable oil until golden brown, let cool and add to the lentils, mix.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Chop the lentils with onions using a meat grinder or blender, I chopped them with a blender in two stages, if the mass turns out to be too steep, add a little boiled water at room temperature.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Add semolina to the minced meat, add salt and mix.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Form the cutlets (they, by the way, hold their shape very well), pour vegetable oil into the pan (it is better to use a non-stick frying pan), heat up, fry the cutlets for five minutes on one side, turn over and cover, fry under a covered lid for five minutes on the other side. Lean lentil cutlets are ready, bon appetit!

These cutlets pleasantly surprised me, I cooked them for the first time, to be honest, at first I was skeptical about this recipe - well, what can happen from ordinary lentils?  But the cutlets turned out to be very tasty and satisfying and even taste somewhat similar to meat. There are only available ingredients in the composition, there are quite a lot of cutlets. I think if you fry carrots with onions and add them to minced lentils, it will also be delicious. They will be perfectly combined with a salad of fresh vegetables, boiled potatoes, pickles, any greens, vinaigrette or sauerkraut. I have kept a post more than once, for a person who loves meat very much, like me, it's very hard, now I really regret that this recipe didn't come across to me earlier! I will definitely cook such cutlets more than once and not only in the post, but also just to diversify my menu.

Important! An incorrectly selected frying pan can ruin even the best recipe. All the details on how to choose the perfect frying pan for different dishes read here .

Any oils are useful only until a certain temperature is reached - the point of smoking, at which the oil begins to burn and toxic substances, including carcinogens, are formed in it. How to determine the roasting temperature and choose the best oil for frying, and which is better not to use at all, read here .
