Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to fry potatoes in a slow cooker? Prepare the products for cooking. Take any vegetable oil, to taste, but refined.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Wash the potatoes thoroughly under running water with a brush, then peel. Cut the potatoes into arbitrary pieces. Do not cut it very finely - it may fall apart when frying. It is optimal that the pieces are about a centimeter thick.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Put the sliced potatoes in a bowl and pour clean cold water. This way you will remove excess starch from it, which will prevent the pieces from sticking together during frying. Let the potatoes stand this way for 15 minutes.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Meanwhile, peel the onion. cut it into small cubes. If you don't like onions, then this item can be omitted. Or add garlic when frying.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Spread the soaked potatoes in an even layer on a towel or napkin, let them lie down for a while so that the excess liquid is absorbed. On top of the potatoes, blot the ends of the towel. Dry potatoes will fry better and a ruddy crust will form on it.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Set the appropriate mode on the slow cooker. It depends on the model. On mine, this is the "Baking" mode. The frying time is 40 minutes, you may have another. Let it warm up for a few minutes. Pour oil into it. Warm up the oil. Put the potatoes in the bowl of the slow cooker. Mix it with a special spatula. Close the lid and leave the potatoes to fry.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

After half the set time, open the slow cooker. Stir the potatoes with a spatula. Put the onion. Stir again. Close the slow cooker with a lid and leave the potatoes to fry until the end of the program. Five minutes before the end, add salt and stir the potatoes.

This recipe helps me out a lot in "camping" conditions. Potatoes in a slow cooker turn out no worse than cooked in the traditional way.
When frying, you can add your favorite spices to the potatoes.
Don't salt the potatoes right away! It will turn out soft and will not fry until golden brown.
At the end of frying, you can throw a piece of butter into the potatoes, it will give it a creamy taste.

So that the mucous membrane of the eyes is not irritated when slicing onions, rinse the onion and knife with cold water. The cutting board will not absorb the unpleasant onion smell if you rub it with a piece of lemon before slicing.

Keep in mind that the cooking time and mode in the recipe are given approximately. All slow cookers work differently and even the same models of the same manufacturer may have their own characteristics. Before you start cooking a new dish for you in a slow cooker, carefully study the instructions for it, and then in practice try to cook dishes that are familiar to you first, and then new ones, choosing the mode and time individually for your own technique.
