Cooking method

Cooking time: 1 h 25 min

Wash the red cabbage, dry it with paper towels. Then we cut it in half and finely chop it. We put the chopped cabbage in a frying pan, pour water. We put the pan on medium heat and wait for the liquid to boil, then reduce the heat to a minimum. We cook cabbage, stirring from time to time, for 2-3 minutes.

At this time, my big apple, then three it on a coarse grater and add it to the pan with cabbage, mix. We are waiting for the liquid to evaporate almost completely, do not forget to interfere. In the process, add salt, ground black and cayenne pepper to the pan, stir again.

We put dried cranberries in a frying pan and pour apple cider over the cabbage. Cover the pan with a lid and simmer the cabbage until soft. It will take about 20 minutes.

And while the cabbage is stewing, we will prepare the apples. In total, we will need 8 medium-sized apples - about 7 centimeters in diameter. Wash the apples, wipe dry with a clean towel. After we cut off the tops of the apples (about a quarter of the height of the apple), which we do not throw away - these will be caps. Carefully cut out the apple cores with a knife, then help to scrape them with a spoon.

Turn on the oven to warm up to 180 degrees and wait for the cabbage to finish stewing. And when this happens, evenly distribute the cabbage mixture over 8 apples, filling them to the top. In each apple, put a teaspoon of sweet cranberry jelly and a teaspoon of butter on top of the cabbage. Then we close the apple with a lid. We repeat the same with all the apples, then put them in a baking dish, pre-greased with a small amount of vegetable oil.

Put the mold in the oven that has had time to warm up well for 40 minutes. During baking, the juice from the apples will stand out. We pour apples on top of them so that they bake more evenly and do not burn during baking.

Ready-made stuffed apples can be served both hot and cold. In any case, it turns out a non-trivial, bright and festive treat!
