Hot chocolate was cooked back in the days of the ancient Aztecs. At that time, it was served bitter and cold, and only to notable persons. The Indians ground cocoa beans into a paste, then added spices and water and whipped the resulting liquid until foam was obtained. Such a drink was called "chocolatl" - "foam water". Hence the name – chocolate.

Such an exquisite drink can be easily prepared at home. The main taste of the drink will depend on cocoa. Therefore, it is not worth saving on quality.

If you are afraid of extra calories, then you can use milk instead of cream. For flavor, when cooking, you can add spices, such as a stick of cinnamon or a couple of stars of star anise. Before serving them, of course, it will be necessary to extract them from the drink.

And for more warming, you can pour a little rum or cognac. This drink will perfectly cheer up and warm up after the autumn, cold wind. For children, of course, such additives are excluded. But they are happy to catch the melted marshmallows from the drink, which when they melt, begin to stretch.

Cream for this recipe can be of any fat content, but remember that the higher the percentage of fat content of the products you use, the higher the calorie content of the dish will be.

Instead of sugar, you can use a sweetener that is not afraid of heat treatment.

For cooking, it is better to use filtered or bottled water that is neutral to taste. If you use tap water, keep in mind that it can give the dish an unpleasant characteristic taste.
