Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 20 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to put out squid in sour cream sauce? Prepare the ingredients. Pre-defrost the squid by transferring them from the freezer to the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. Clean them by removing the upper skin, then remove the insides along with the chitin plate. Rinse the carcasses well under running water.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Boil the squid. How to boil squid? Pour water into a deep saucepan and put it to heat over high heat. As soon as the water boils, add salt to the pan.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Carefully lower the squid carcasses into a pot of boiling water. Cook them literally for one to two minutes. If you cook longer, the squid meat will become stiff and rubbery.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

With a slotted spoon or cooking tongs, fish out the finished squid from the pan. Set them aside to cool.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Peel a large onion and cut it into thin half rings.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Heat the frying pan over high heat. Pour in the sunflower oil, heat it, turn down the heat and put the onion half rings in the pan. Fry the onion, stirring it occasionally, over low heat for 5 minutes.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

While the onion is being fried, cut the squid into rings about one centimeter wide.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Once the onion is lightly browned, add the squid rings to the pan. Simmer them under a closed lid over medium heat for 4-5 minutes.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Add sour cream and finely chopped fresh dill. Add salt and pepper to taste. Mix it up. Warm up the dish for a couple more minutes and serve it on the table! Boiled rice with butter is suitable as a side dish for squid, and in addition a salad of fresh vegetables. Bon appetit!

Using already completely cleaned squid without a head and without skin significantly reduces the time for cooking this dish.
In addition to salt, pepper and a small amount of dill, no other spices and herbs, in my opinion, should not be added to this dish. The beauty of squid is its simplicity.
To reduce the calorie content of the finished dish, you can use less fatty sour cream. For example, I took only ten percent, but the sauce still turned out to be very decent, and the squid is tender and soft.
For the same purpose, you can fry the onion in a dry non-stick frying pan, and not in oil.
