Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h 10 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to cook cabbage soup from fresh cabbage in a slow cooker? Prepare everything that is indicated on the list. You can take a whole chicken or use any of its parts. For the recipe, I used a soup set-chicken backs. Beans can be excluded from the recipe, but with it the finished dish turns out to be more satisfying and bright.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Peel the carrots, potatoes and onions. Remove the outer leaves from the cabbage. Rinse all vegetables in clean water. Chop the onion and carrot in any way convenient for you. I cut the onion into small cubes, and grated the carrot on a grater with large teeth.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Chop the cabbage into thin strips, and cut the potatoes into small cubes or cubes, drain the liquid from the canned beans.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Heat a small amount of vegetable oil in the bowl of a slow cooker. Send the carrots and onions to fry. On the "Frying" mode, bring it to the desired degree of roasting (5-10 minutes will be quite enough).

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Send potatoes, chicken cut into small pieces, beans and cabbage to roast.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Season everything with salt and pepper, add your favorite spices to taste. Pour in hot water. How much water should I use? If you want to get a thick first course, then add water so that it covers the contents of the bowl 1-2 cm higher. If you want cabbage soup is not very thick, then pour in more water.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Mix everything. Close the lid of the slow cooker, set the "Quenching" mode and leave until fully cooked.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Soup is ready! Sprinkle with fresh herbs, ground pepper and serve!

Each slow cooker has its own power, and therefore the cooking time for different appliances may differ.

If you use a young cabbage kachan, then it should be added to all the ingredients 10-15 minutes before the end of cooking, otherwise the cabbage may turn into porridge.

Bon appetit!

Important! Regardless of whether the amount of water for soup is indicated in the recipe or not, it is best to focus on your own preferences (thick or more liquid soup you like), as well as on the size of your pan and the products taken for cooking. Do not forget that the author has his own view on the amount of meat, potatoes, cereals and other ingredients in the soup, which may not coincide with yours.  In practice, this means that if you are cooking for the first time, you should not cook a whole pot at once. Make a soup for tasting - for one or two people. To do this, reduce the amount of all ingredients according to the recipe to 1-2 servings, and take the amount of water from the calculation: from one cup per serving - if the soup is very thick, to 1.5-2 cups - if more liquid. Do not forget to take into account that part of the liquid will boil off during the cooking process. After tasting a small portion of soup, you can adjust both the amount of liquid and the proportions of ingredients to your taste. In the future, like most experienced housewives, you will be able to pour water for soup and lay the ingredients “by eye".

Chicken can be replaced with turkey or any other type of meat at your request. But keep in mind that in this case, the cooking time and calorie content of the dish will change.

Keep in mind that the cooking time and mode are indicated approximately in the recipe. All slow cookers work differently and even the same models of the same manufacturer may have their own characteristics. Before you start cooking a new dish for you in a slow cooker, carefully study the instructions for it, and then in practice try to cook dishes that are familiar to you first, and then new ones, choosing the mode and time individually for your own technique.
