To be more precise, thick pigs refer to conditionally edible mushrooms. That is, you can eat them, but the taste qualities are considered low. The thing is that they need to be able to cook. Then they turn out especially delicious! But you still need to remember that it is better to eat any mushrooms in moderation and they are not recommended for feeding young children.

It is important to collect pigs in an ecologically clean area - away from roads, industries, large settlements. This is important because pigs absorb harmful substances from the environment. We sort out the mushrooms, then wash them and put them in a large deep bowl. Fill the mushrooms with salted cold water and leave for 24 hours. During this time, we change the water to fresh 5 times.

When this time has passed, rinse the mushrooms, cut into large pieces (if the mushrooms are small, then leave them whole) and put them in a large saucepan. Fill them with water, add salt and send them to the stove. The heating is strong. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to moderate and boil the pigs for 10 minutes. We throw the mushrooms into a colander, rinse well, put them in a saucepan again, pour water, add salt. Repeat the process 2 times, but cook for the third time after boiling for 40 minutes. After that, we throw the mushrooms back into a colander, rinse and let the excess moisture drain.

At this time, peel the onion, cut it into small cubes or chop it - it depends on personal preferences. We put a large frying pan on medium heat, into which we pour vegetable oil. You can use both refined sunflower and olive oil. Heat a frying pan with oil, and then put the prepared onion into it. Fry it for 8 minutes, stirring from time to time, until transparent and slightly ruddy.

Next, add mushrooms to the pan. Fry them over medium heat, not forgetting to stir, until cooked - for 20 minutes. In the process, we try for salt and, if necessary, add salt. You can also add your favorite spices or aromatic herbs that will give a simple dish refined notes. For example, Italian herbs are well suited.

Ready-made mushrooms are served with any suitable side dish: boiled potatoes, cereals, pasta. Decorate with fresh herbs if desired.
