Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 3 h 30 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Prepare all the necessary ingredients for making a roll with poppy seeds from yeast dough. Today I will make it with fresh yeast, but you can also take dry ones. Then they will need 11 grams.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

And to begin with, we will prepare the poppy filling. Of course, you can buy ready-made poppy seed filling in the store, but it is not cheap, and it is not so difficult to make it. There would be a poppy and time available. We pour the poppy into a saucepan and pour 300 milliliters of water, put it on medium heat and bring it to a boil. Cook over low heat for 15 minutes. Then drain the water and throw the poppy on a sieve, which is covered with gauze or a paper napkin.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Let the water drain completely and transfer the poppy to the blender bowl. Add sugar and grind the poppy seeds into a smaller mass.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Put the poppy seeds back into the pan and add milk and butter.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Put on a slow fire, bring to a boil and cook, stirring, until the liquid evaporates and thickens. Remove from heat and leave to cool.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Now let's do the test. We will warm up the milk a little, but not much, because at temperatures above 50-60 degrees, yeast dies. Pour 100 milliliters of milk into a bowl, add yeast and sugar. Mix everything until smooth and put in a warm place for 10 minutes. If the yeast is good, then a cap of bubbles will appear on the surface.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Melt and cool the butter, break the egg into a cup and mix until smooth. Add everything to a bowl with yeast dough, mix.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Pour in the remaining milk, sugar, salt and half of the flour. Mix everything until smooth. The dough should be like pancakes. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and put it in a warm place for 30 minutes.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Add the remaining flour and knead the soft dough. Cover and put in a warm place for one hour to lift.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Knead the dough that has come up and roll it out, on a floured table, into a thin layer.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Apply the poppy seed filling to the entire surface of the dough in an even layer.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

Fold the layer with poppy seeds into a tight roll.

  13. Step 13:

    Step 13.

Cover the baking sheet with baking paper and transfer the roll onto it. Mix the egg yolk and lubricate the entire surface of the roll. Remove the baking sheet in a warm place for 20 minutes so that the roll rises. Turn on the oven to warm up to 180 degrees.

  14. Step 14:

    Step 14.

Put the baking sheet with the rolled roll in a hot oven, bake for 30-40 minutes until ready and golden brown.

  15. Step 15:

    Step 15.

We take our roll out of the oven, cover it and let the roll cool completely. Then we cut and serve.

  16. Step 16:

    Step 16.

    Bon appetit.
