Tomato and cucumber salad with mayonnaise

This salad is one of the most frequent guests on our tables. It is unlikely that there are those among our audience who have never cooked this salad. We've known this salad since we were very young. It was made by our grandmothers, great-grandmothers, mothers, and we hardly avoid it ourselves. And those who have cottages and greenhouses with their own harvest of tomatoes, cucumbers and herbs, have the opportunity to cook from fresh vegetables directly from the garden.

    Season the salad with salt, pepper and mayonnaise. Mix everything thoroughly.

The beauty of this salad is that in addition to mayonnaise, you can choose any dressing for it: sour cream, yogurt, olive or sunflower oil. It turns out especially tasty with unrefined farm sunflower oil. Especially tasty is the dressing that remains after the vegetables are eaten.

You can choose any greens for this salad: dill, parsley, green onions, basil. I used cilantro to give the salad an oriental flavor. As well as various mixtures of dried herbs or ready-made salad mixes.

Together with tomatoes and cucumbers, you can add peeled and sliced onion, sweet bell pepper or tender feta cheese to the salad. As well as chopped with a knife or torn by hands green lettuce leaves. And you can also use ready-made mixtures of salad leaves. All this will bring new shades to the taste known since childhood.

Tomato and cucumber salad is not only easy to prepare, but also suitable for any table, whether it's a regular lunch on weekdays, a picnic with kebabs in nature or a festive feast with a large number of guests. This dish is prepared in a few minutes and is an ideal side dish for meat.
