Whiskey from moonshine at home

Whiskey from homemade moonshine is simple and affordable! Homemade whiskey is not so difficult to make! In fact, this is moonshine infused in oak barrels. But we will go a little different way of cooking: very interesting and original. Whiskey turns out to be strong enough, but fragrant!

Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 21 d
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. You will need homemade moonshine. It should be well cleaned: either with the help of coal or with the help of a second distillation with the separation of the first and last 100 ml. The strength of moonshine should be at least 45 degrees. You will need oak bark - you can collect it yourself, but you can also buy it at the pharmacy. Dried prunes can be replaced with the same amount of dried apricots.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

It is better to make charcoal yourself, preferably from some fruit trees: apple, cherry, oak or birch again. Then grind the charcoal and add it to the whiskey infusing container.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Pour boiling water over the bark, leave for 10 minutes.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Then drain the water and also add it to the dishes where you will insist whiskey.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

You can also add pieces of oak wood. But this is not necessary.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Do not wash the prunes, also add them to the dishes for infusing.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Heat the moonshine to 45 degrees. If suddenly you don't have a thermometer, heat it approximately: 45 degrees is when it gets a little hot to put your finger in the liquid. Just a little bit!

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Pour the moonshine into the dishes with the rest of the ingredients. Mix it up.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Top up to the neck - there should be no free space for air in the jar. Cover tightly with a lid and put away in a dark, cool place. Insist at least 10 days but... I recommend to insist for at least 15 days. Optimally, it is after this period of time that you can start trying the drink - if you are not satisfied with the taste, continue to insist and try it after another week to taste.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Then strain the drink through several layers of gauze. It is even better to strain 2-3 times to remove traces of coal and bark. Pour the whiskey into bottles and let it brew for a couple of days.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Homemade whiskey turns out to be no less fragrant than store-bought versions of this drink. The fortress is 45-50 degrees, depending on the original fortress of moonshine. Fans of original alcoholic beverages will appreciate it. But observe the measure when drinking alcohol!
