Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 20 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make a classic Greek salad with sirtaki cheese and tomatoes? Very simple. First, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. You can use any tomatoes. I have small fragrant farm tomatoes. The vegetable part can be supplemented or replaced according to your taste.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Wash the cucumbers, dry them and cut them into semicircles. The skin, if it is not rough, not damaged and not bitter, does not need to be cut off.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Wash tomatoes, dry and cut into quarters, removing the core with seeds. If desired, you can leave the seeds. If you have cherry tomatoes - halves. Tomatoes need juicy, but dense. Soft fruits do not keep their shape well, in the process of slicing and cooking they will spread into a shapeless mass and spoil the appearance of the dish.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Cut sirtaki cheese into small cubes. Sirtaki can be replaced with classic Greek feta. Or another soft cheese, for example, cheese, mozzarella, Adyghe, cottage cheese or melted cream; however, in this case, the salad will be based on the Greek.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Peel the red onion and cut it into thin rings or half rings. If desired, you can marinate the onion in a mixture of vinegar and sugar for 20 minutes.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Combine tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions in a salad bowl. Pour olive oil over the salad, season with salt and pepper and mix gently, trying not to overwhelm the tomatoes.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Add cheese slices to the salad. I add sirtaki after mixing vegetables with butter and spices to keep the pieces of cheese whole.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

You can use any greens, olives or olives to decorate the salad. I took a small-leaved basil bush and pitted olives.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Serve the salad to the table, garnished with olives and fresh herbs. Bon appetit!

It is advisable to serve the salad immediately, while the vegetables are crisp and fresh. If you let the salad stand, then after about an hour the cucumbers will gradually begin to lose their fresh appearance.

Since the degree of salinity, sweetness, bitterness, sharpness, acid, burning is individual for everyone, always add spices, spices and seasonings, focusing on your taste! If you put some of the seasonings for the first time, then keep in mind that there are spices that it is especially important not to shift (for example, chili pepper).
